Description
Multi-Family skills groups are an important part of the treatment model for DBT with adolescents. When orienting clients to this mode of
treatment there are often objections from teens, from their parents, or from both. This small group consultation will be focused helping
troubleshoot issues that arise in orientation and commitment to Multi-family skills group.
Learning Objective
Participants will be able to use DBT principles and strategies to resolve issues that arise in eliciting commitment to attend multi-family skills group.

About Small Group Consultations with DBT Experts
This session is one of our “Small Group Consultations with DBT Experts” within the Chats with Trainers series. We will address specific questions that are commonly faced in delivering DBT. This format is designed to focus on a specific question in a group consultation format with a maximum of 8 participants. This small, more intimate group setting led by our expert Behavioral Tech Trainers will allow for a deep exploration of the particular challenge at hand. Please note, CE credits will not be offered.

Dr. Forsythe Cox, PhD, is a Clinical Associate professor and the director of the Marsha M. Linehan Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Clinic at the University of Washington. She teaches courses and provides supervision to advanced graduate students learning to deliver DBT. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification certified clinician. She has provided clinical services in a variety of settings, including Veteran Affairs medical centers, university psychological services centers, private outpatient clinics, and maximum-security forensic inpatient settings. Dr. Forsythe Cox is also a trainer and consultant for The Behavioral Tech institute, a non-profit training company founded by Dr. Linehan which provides training and consultation for DBT clinicians nationally and internationally. Dr. Forsythe Cox has worked to increase collaborative efforts in the DBT community to help providers better serve clients with diverse identities.
